 Meet Angela

 

Hello! I’m Angela, but you can call me Angie or simply Mom. I've been a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2008, but my journey began even earlier—in 1996, my brother Sam was born. Sam has been my greatest inspiration, my transition from Linguistics to Communication Sciences and Disorders. His impact not only shaped my career choice but also sparked a passion for creating a accessible world for those with communication challenges and lifelong disabilities. My experiences have been further enriched by my grandfather, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease while I was training to become an SLP.

 

Background

As a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist from South Texas, I've made Houston my home since 2008. My career has spanned various settings, in pediatrics and evolving into medical speech-language pathology. Each chapter has deepened my understanding of communication and swallowing disorders across all ages.

Over the years, I’ve gained specialized expertise in key areas: -

**Voice Disorders** – Assisting clients in restoring and enhancing vocal function -

**Parkinson’s Disease** – Helping individuals maintain their communication and swallowing abilities

**Dementia Care** – Offering strategies to improve communication and overall quality of life -

**Dysphagia** – Addressing swallowing challenges to ensure safe nutrition and hydration
